Acceleration Day and Evening Academy

Acceleration Day and Evening Charter School (ACCEL) was the first approved charter school in Alabama. The Mobile Area Education Foundation (MAEF) opened the school in 2017 to help students in grades 9 - 12 graduate and prepare for college and career. ACCEL was designed to expand services to a larger group of struggling students in the Mobile area and to strengthen the quality of education available to high school students. This school operates within the Mobile County Public School System area which includes Mobile, Baldwin And Washington Counties.

Mission:

The mission of ACCEL is to re-engage and inspire youth to unlock their academic potential and graduate high school as life-long learners ready for college, careers, and civic life.

ACCEL adheres to state requirements for graduation, yet students progress through grades based on their demonstration of competency. The students who attend ACCEL require or desire a different, more flexible school option. ACCEL's approach to learning is student-centered wherein students are empowered and encouraged to learn at their own individual pace through interest-driven exploration and real-world projects.
