JOB INFORMATION 

Salary Range $55,000-$75,000

The Community Communications Specialist is responsible for enhancing community involvement and communication for the CSP grant. The Community Communications Specialist will provide technical assistance to potential applicants and subgrantees to support awareness of charter school options, availability of subgrants, family and community engagement, and recruitment activities.  

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Collaborate with community members and organizations to promote the CSP grant, fostering participation and feedback.  
  • Develop and implement marketing budgets. 
  • Coordinate marketing efforts with the CSP Grant Project Director. 
  • Develop and manage community engagement strategies, including creating content for social media and other platforms.  
  • Organize and coordinate community events, both virtual and in-person, to enhance connections among members and with the organization.  
  • Coordinate and schedule information booths; coordinate with organizers regarding participation; develop and plan displays and give-away items; and oversee and ensure set-up, implementation, and adequate staffing. 
  • Analyze community feedback and behavior to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.  
  • Maintain records and data to assess the success of community engagement efforts and communicate effectively with the community.  
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.  

Qualifications/ Requirements: Must have a bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field; supplemented by three (3) years of experience in marketing and public relations. Must possess good organizational, clerical, and communication skills. Must be able to work effectively with the public and assorted agencies. Can demonstrate the ability to use computer office software including but not limited to spreadsheets, word processing, databases, desktop publishing and graphics software.  

Terms of Employment: Twelve Month Position in Accordance with Negotiated Contract. The Alabama Public Charter School Commission is a non-merit state agency.
