The Alabama Public Charter School Commission (APCSC) is seeking qualified individuals to serve as peer reviewers for the review of Charter School Program (CSP) subgrant applications.
Peer reviewers play a critical role in ensuring a fair, transparent, and high-quality review process. Reviewers will evaluate applications using a rubric and provide objective scores and written feedback.
Reviewer Qualifications
Peer reviewers should have experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
Charter school operations, governance, or leadership
Federal grant administration or fiscal oversight
School leadership, finance, or program implementation
Education policy or program evaluation
Reviewer Responsibilities
Selected reviewers will be expected to:
Complete required reviewer training
Conduct independent reviews of assigned applications
Score applications using the APCSC-approved rubric
Participate in a consensus or calibration discussion
Submit final scores and comments by established deadlines
Time Commitment and Key Dates
Reviewers Chosen: March 16, 2026
Reviewer Training: Week of April 6-10, 2026 (exact dates and times TBD, but expect 3-4 total hours)
Independent Application Review: April 13–May 13, 2026
Consensus / Calibration Meetings: May 18th and 19th
Final Scores Due: May 19, 2026
Reviewers should be available during all phases of the review process.
Stipend
Peer reviewers will receive a stipend in recognition of the time and expertise required to participate in the review process. Additional details regarding stipend terms will be provided to the selected reviewers.
