Alabama Public Charter School Commission (APCSC) Timeline for Applicants

September 10, 2026- Application Workshop Classes Begin (To Be Offered Weekly until November 1st.) |
|
November 2, 2026 – Preferred Letter of Intent Due |
|
January 4, 2027- Application Released |
|
March 15, 2027-Application Submission Deadline |
|
March 15- May 10, 2027-Window to Review Applications |
|
May 10, 2027-APCSC Issues Final Decision on Applications |
|
Appeals Process
|
|
Step One: Local Education Agency as Authorizer must submit report to Alabama State Department of Education(ALSDE) within thirty days of denying an applicant |
|
Step Two: Appeal can be filed by the denied applicant. |
|
Step Three: All information and materials must be submitted by the denied applicant to the Commission |
|
Step Four: Once all materials are submitted to the Commission, the Commission notifies the local board authorizer at least 15 days prior to the consideration of the appeal. |
|
Step Five: Commission schedules an open community meeting to be held in the local school system zone. |
|
Step Six: Consideration of Appeal |
- Timeline begins on the date the Commission receives all materials from denied applicant.
- Commission will strive to work within 60 days of date of submitted materials; however, the Commission reserves the right to modify dates for full and thoughtful consideration.
